This guy just gave a speech at my office today.... You will know him as the artist for maya 6 box cover... Pretty crazy renders... He said he renders his images at 200+ mega pixels or like over 100 times full HD res..... and takes 1 month to render each image... Can be printed out at 1.5 meters posters. Even the smallest object can be zoomed in to view the bump/spec/every single detail.
